Published in 2006 by Scholastic Inc.

The Gingerbread Girl is the adventurous story of the Gingerbread Boy’s younger sister. After losing the Gingerbread Boy, the lonely old man and the lonely old woman decide to bake a new addition. The Gingerbread Boy’s sister is much wiser and much more creative than he was, though. Like her brother, she runs away. Once she reaches the river, she encounters the same mischievous fox that her brother had been eaten by. She uses her brilliance to come up with a plan in hopes of outsmarting the fox and making it across the river. This book offers a fresh story of the classic tale.
